February 2023 Art Update - Fire Fall

February 2023 Art Update

Happy February, folks! I hope you felt the love as much as I did this time of year. I was lucky to have my friend Emily come home from living in Jordan for the past two years.

Artistically, I’m embarking on a new season now that the 15 foot murals for Holy Name are nearly complete! Once they’re installed, I’ll put on the finishing touches and invite you all to come see them in person.

The Triptychs are (almost) done!

Panels in storage, waiting to be taken to their new home!

Since Lent has officially begun, there will be no celebrations until Easter. So into the 40 days we go!

The anticipation to reveal these is already at an all time high for me so I know that this Easter is going to be amazing.

Please share this newsletter with anyone you think would like an early invitation to the reveal and urge them to sign up for updates.

Sacred Heart of Jesus

I started a new commission recently for a family who wanted a custom painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and I’ve loved experiencing it come together.

Something my clients really wanted was to obscure Jesus’ face so the emphasis is completely on His heart and wounds.

Their prayer for this is that their 8 children all have their own personal encounter with Jesus’ love for them when they view this piece. I know for myself, I am being set on fire with Jesus’ love for me every day I work on this.

Stay tuned for the final reveal! I am planning on making this available as a print once it’s finished.

St. Raphael

This project is going to be epic. This month, I worked on some color studies and took reference photos (thanks to my brother and sister-in-law) so I can bring this 5 foot painting to life!

Even my nephew got to join in the fun!

I am always looking for models for new paintings. If you/your family would like to pose for me in the future, please reply to this email with with your contact info and a photo of yourself. It helps me a ton and you get to say you participated in a work of art!

I did my first live painting experience for the Band of Angels Heartstrings Gala at The Abbott! I painted this portrait of Charlie “The Bird” Parker playing jazz over the KC skyline while the guests mingled and watched.

Watch the sun set as I paint!

At the end of the night, it was auctioned off to this lucky bidder and her husband!

This was such a fun experience that I am eager to do more events like galas, weddings, worship nights, and more!

If you or someone you know is getting married and would like a reminder of their special day captured in a beautiful painting, send them my info. I’d love to help!

Thank You!

So much is happening in this season and I am truly living the dream. To keep this dream alive, I have you all to thank! If you know anyone who would appreciate having my artwork in their home, church, wedding, or business, please let me know!

Here’s a list of all that I can do:

God Bless your March!

-Mattie
