INTRODUCING
Under Her Mantle
When I think of Mary, I think of a woman who is perfectly tender and perfectly strong because she is wholly united to God’s love.
I think of a woman who identifies with our sorrows, who isn't afraid of them, doesn’t run away or dismiss them
But enters in and brings hope.
I wanted the girl to seem almost like a baby - curled up in the fetal position - fully surrendered and desperate for love.
They sit in a garden, the place of restoration and new life.
And Mary lifts her chin up, to say “everything is going to be okay”.
It is such a risk to be vulnerable.
“Vulnerability” literally means “able to be wounded”. But if we take that risk, especially with the Blessed Mother and Jesus, we will find that comfort our hearts are parched for.
Enjoy this painting titled Under Her Mantle.
Once it dries, I’ll put it in its vintage frame!
